50 Days to Green: CrowdStrike Veterans Race of Remembrance powered by AWS

In 50 days, VIR roars to life as the green flag flies on the first-ever CrowdStrike Veterans Race of Remembrance powered by AWS—a 12-hour, multi-class battle on Veterans Day weekend where service meets speed. This isn’t just a race; it’s a mission in motion. Every entry places medically released and injured veterans in real team roles—on the wall, on the box, on the data—rebuilding Team. Identity. Purpose.

What to Expect

  • Serious endurance: 12 hours, multi-class format, sanctioned by USAC
  • Service front and center: On-site Friday evening Heroes Dinner and Sunday Pit Lane Remembrance Service.
  • Real life impact: Operation Motorsport Beneficiaries integrated across teams.
  • More racing action: Radical World Finals & Mustang Cup.
  • Big-league partners: Powered by AWS, presented with CrowdStrike and a growing roster of supporters like Michelin, Mobil 1, Sunoco, Cloudera, Carahsoft, Collision Careers, BDO, Penfed

Meet Nolan Yuke

Nolan Yuke grew up the son of a Vietnam war veteran but the military wasn’t part of his plan. Then came the attacks on September 11, 2001.

“This was going to be my generation’s war,” he said.

Now, years after his combat missions changed him, Nolan found Operation Motorsport & a new Team, Identity & Purpose. He is currently embedded with Meyer Shank Racing in IMSA. Here, he shared a bit of his story during last year’s Mission Motorsport race in Wales, UK.

Proceeds from the CrowdStrike Veterans Race of Remembrance powered by AWS at VIRginia International Raceway benefit our programs for veterans.

The veterans in our Motorsport Immersion program often use skills they have from the military but they build new ones, too. John Salada is expanding his skillset as a crew member with Czabok Simpson Motorsport.

“Welcoming a veteran from Operation Motorsport into our team has been one of the most rewarding decisions we’ve made. This season, John Michael Salada has joined us in the role of tire technician & pit crew member & he has quickly become an integral part of our team. Veterans like Johnny bring unmatched discipline, teamwork & focus—qualities that elevate the entire crew both on & off the track. Beyond the competitive benefits, providing this opportunity is a chance to give back, to help veterans find renewed purpose & belonging through motorsport. I encourage every team owner to open their doors; you won’t just be helping a veteran’s recovery—you’ll be enriching your team’s culture and spirit.”

— Matthias Czabok, Owner & Managing Partner, Czabok Simpson Motorsport

SPC Ryan G. Foltz (2nd PLT, 87th Sapper Co., 03/23/1999 – 04/23/2023

This weekend at Indianapolis, all three CSM entries will carry the name of SPC Ryan G. Foltz (2nd PLT, 87th Sapper Co., 03/23/1999 – 04/23/2023). Ryan was Operation Motorsport Beneficiary and CSM crew member Johnny Salad’s best friend. He died by suicide in 2023, and this race carries deep personal meaning for Johnny. CSM entries are carrying Ryan’s name to honor his life, his service. We race to remember—and to break the silence.

Sincerely asking “How are you?” & being ready & willing to respond can save lives.

September is Suicide Prevention Month. It’s our mission to make the veterans in our lives feel seen, supported & heard – to build a community of protection around them. You can do it, too.

Start a conversation. Ask how they are doing & be prepared to be supportive. If you see increased alcohol/drug use, aggressive behavior, withdrawal from friends/family, dramatic mood swings or impulsive behavior, recognize those as signs of potential stress & call one of the numbers below for help.

If you are experiencing difficulties & feel able, please reach out to a friend, family member or the help numbers below. Don’t try to handle it on your own.

One way you can connect to us from home is through the Operation eMotorsport iRacing League:

At Operation Motorsport we’ve built a community of veterans who are here to help one another so always feel free to reach out.
