Operation eMotorsport League

Season 11 Heats Up at Laguna Seca

🏁 Season XI of the Operation eMotorsport iRacing League continues!

Round two of Operation eMotorsport Season 11 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca delivered exactly what our community has come to expect: excitement, resilience, and a showcase of talent from across the grid. Despite a dramatic opening lap, the race quickly evolved into a thrilling battle across all classes, with drivers proving their skill at one of the most demanding tracks in North America.

The legendary Corkscrew and Laguna Seca’s punishing layout pushed every competitor to the limit. At the sharp end, the Pro class duel between Chris Walsh and Ken Copelin had fans on edge until the final moments. Walsh nearly pulled off a bold late-race move for the lead, but Copelin held firm, claiming victory after a masterful defense.

In the Open class, Francisco Vega and his United States Army E-Sports machine put on a clinic of pace and consistency, storming to a dominant win and laying down an early marker for the season ahead.

The heart of the evening came from the Beneficiary class, where the spirit of Operation Motorsport shone brightest. Louis Rios powered to a class victory and an impressive top-10 overall finish, earning well-deserved celebration. Joining him on the podium were Taner Masters in second and Phillip Chartier in third—an inspiring lineup that embodied the determination and resilience of our veteran drivers.

Despite the early chaos, Laguna Seca delivered an unforgettable night of racing. With standout performances across every class, Season 11 is already proving to be one for the record books. Congratulations to all of our competitors for putting on a show that captures the very best of our community: teamwork, identity, and purpose—on and off the track.

Behind the scenes with our Motorsport Immersion veterans & volunteers at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Together, we’re building Team, Identity & Purpose at every race for our medically released/retired military veterans. From working with race-winning teams & sanctioning bodies to marketing, our veterans are using their skills & developing new ones filling vital roles at the track.

Just like the military, the Operation Motorsport family is unlike any other!

Eric Toussaint, Canadian veteran (CT Photography) & Richard Davenport, American veteran (Metal Prophecy Media)

Introducing Eric Toussaint, our new photographer beneficiary for our Canadian programs!

Toussaint served 24 years in the Canadian Forces, including time as a Signal Operator & later as an operator with CANSOFCOM (Canadian Special Operations Forces Command).

“After retiring, I found photography as both a passion & a way to stay grounded. Capturing the energy & emotion of sports & motorsports has become my new mission,” Toussaint said.

He’s joined our American photographer beneficiary, Richard Davenport (U.S. Army/Navy) at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend.

If you’ve served in the military you might know a thing or two about Challenge Coins. Some of our Canadian beneficiaries received theirs at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The tradition of military Challenge Coins dates back decades. It’s a way to show you are part of a Team. Here at Operation Motorsport, each of the veteran beneficiaries participating in the Motorsport Immersion program receives a numbered gold challenge coin.

Don’t forget to carry it with you! You never know when you might be challenged to show it!

Sincerely asking “How are you?” & being ready & willing to respond can save lives.

September is Suicide Prevention Month. It’s our mission to make the veterans in our lives feel seen, supported & heard – to build a community of protection around them. You can do it, too.

Start a conversation. Ask how they are doing & be prepared to be supportive. If you see increased alcohol/drug use, aggressive behavior, withdrawal from friends/family, dramatic mood swings or impulsive behavior, recognize those as signs of potential stress & call one of the numbers below for help.

If you are experiencing difficulties & feel able, please reach out to a friend, family member or the help numbers below. Don’t try to handle it on your own.

One way you can connect to us from home is through the Operation eMotorsport iRacing League:
