Operation Motorsport Receives Official Registered Charity Designation in Canada
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brighton, Ontario, Canada, (January 14, 2025) – Operation Motorsport has officially been granted CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) Registered Charity status in Canada, enabling donors within the country to receive tax benefits on their contributions in accordance with Canadian law.
The much-anticipated status is an important step for Operation Motorsport, a dual-country organization that has been operating in Canada as a not-for-profit organization since its inception in 2017.
“We are beyond thrilled to announce that Operation Motorsport has officially been granted status as a registered charity in Canada,” said Diezel Lodder, CEO and Co-Founder of Operation Motorsport. “This milestone represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide recovery opportunities to medically retiring Canadian & American service members and veterans through motorsport.”
Diezel, a retired Canadian Armed Forces Master Warrant Officer, and his wife Tiffany founded Operation Motorsport after seeing the impactful work the United Kingdom-based Mission Motorsport accomplishes with military wounded veterans there.
Operation Motorsport uses Motorsport to promote health by providing military veterans, who are struggling with physical or mental health issues following their medical release from the military, with access to peer support, coaching and organized activities to reduce isolation, restore self-esteem, and reintegrate them back into the community.
Operation Motorsport provides team, identity and purpose for medically retired military veterans in Canada and the United States through two programs: The hands-on Motorsport Immersion program and the Operation eMotorsport League (iRacing).
In the Motorsport Immersion program, veteran beneficiaries work directly with motorsport teams in the U.S. and Canada at race tracks throughout both countries. The eMotorsport League allows veterans to connect with other veterans in a virtual setting.
Next week, Operation Motorsport kicks off its 2025 Motorsport Immersion program at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Season 10 of the popular Operation eMotorsport League begins Feb. 4, 2025.
“Being recognized as a charitable organization in Canada not only validates the impact of our work, but also expands our ability to engage with supporters, partners, and donors who share our vision of empowering Canadian & American veterans and transforming lives,” Diezel Lodder said. “We are deeply grateful for the trust and support that have brought us to this moment, and we look forward to building an even brighter future together.”
Operation Motorsport’s U.S. arm, based in Raleigh, N.C., started in 2019 and operates as a 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit Foundation, so tax benefits are available to donors there.
